I just finished my last session with a Financial Planner (FP) and it’s hard to describe the happy mixture of pride and relief I feel. It’s like I leveled up on a video game called “adulting.” Before starting my sessions with Andrew, I would get this horrible feeling in my stomach whenever I looked at any of my bank accounts. That feeling is gone!
I was lucky enough to find a FP at work where he gave a presentation about strategic planning for retirement and student loan payments. He had thorough knowledge of the organization I work for. However, as an independent consultant his advice wasn’t skewed to any company or strategy.
I quickly contacted him for an individual consultation and presented him with three goals I thought he could help me with: choose the right plan for my retirement, a plan for my student loan repayments, and start some investments.

We were able to finish those goals in two months! We met over Zoom two or three times and he walked me through all the options and the decisions we made felt collaborative. He took meticulous notes and we even recorded sessions I might need to review in the future.
I’ve already been able to share what I’ve learned with friends and colleagues. In my opinion, the money and confidence I have earned from working with a FP far exceeds what I paid him. Financial planners are not just for retirees. If you are thinking one may be right for you, don’t hesitate!
